The CIEJ (Research Centre for Juridical Studies) is the newest I&D structure of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, created in 2014. Portugal has been experiencing  constant legislative changes, which have been influencing the lives of companies, institutions and citizens. The Polytechnic Institute of Leiria is situated in a very dynamic region, with a lively business scene, for which is fundamental the development of I&D activities that, on one hand, may strengthen the relations between the academy and the comunity and, on the other, may increase the quality of the degrees in the institution. Focusing on these purposes, the CIEJ integrates:

– Multidisciplinary I&D projects, both national and international, vocationed for the juridical and social analysis of Leiria region;

– Local community service projects, by providing legal advice and creating support structures, such as an arbitration centre or publishing case studies in the website;

– Specialization courses and post-grad courses, both short and annual, related to the specific needs of the region (Tax Law, Environmental Law,  among others)

The team integrates teachers from the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, specialized both in private and public law, among other investigators from prestigious national and international institutions.
